A competency-based learning program for new teachers to develop foundational skills in teaching and classroom management
Effective teaching is the number one factor that influences student achievement after accounting for student characteristics. Often, new teachers enter their classrooms without the necessary skills and support to maximize student growth and achievement. To address these challenges, more and more schools, districts, and states are implementing induction programs to provide the necessary support and feedback to assist new teachers at the beginning of their careers.
This learning program is a collection of micro-credentials that will assist schools, districts, and states in developing and supporting their induction programs.
Using the strategies included in Teach Like a Champion, the educator will select and utilize strategies to address specific objectives for student behavior.
Educators design and implement routines/rituals in their classroom to minimize transition time, maximize instructional minutes, and develop co-ownership of the classroom processes with students.
Educator builds interpersonal relationships by engaging in daily one-on-one interactions with students.
Educator establishes partnerships with students’ parents or guardians.
The New Teacher Starter Kit micro-credential program provides an opportunity for districts to implement personalized, competency-based professional learning around a core set of teaching skills.
