Columbus Municipal School District Makes Shift to Personalized, Competency-Based Professional Development for Educators through Partnership with BloomBoard

BloomBoard, the leading educator-focused professional development platform, and Columbus Municipal School District, have partnered to provide the district’s more than 300 educators with BloomBoard’s integrated competency-based professional learning program, supported by micro-credentials.

As part of the partnership, educators in the district will have access to collections of professional development resources, vetted and curated by expert educators in the field. Collections are designed to support the individual learning needs of each teacher by helping them understand and apply information about a specific problem of practice. To further support their learning, educators will have access to private, virtual meeting rooms where they can collaborate with peers and mentors around shared goals or interests.

Micro-credentials, a digital form of certification that recognizes educators for demonstrating their skills and competencies, are gaining traction in the education system because of their unique ability to empower teachers to engage in hands-on, personalized learning. Through a partnership with Digital Promise, the thought-leader in competency-based educator development, BloomBoard offers a library of over 200 micro-credentials which focus on a variety of skills such as data literacy, teacher leadership, and deeper learning. As educators in Columbus Municipal School District apply their learning in their practice, they will be able to prove competence and earn micro-credentials through the BloomBoard platform.
